Education Of Jackie Chan
Jackie Chan’s original name was Chang Kong Sang and he was born in 1954 in Hong Kong. His father was a servant in a French Ambassador’s house and he lived most of his life within the confinements of the embassy. |
He was very poor at academic studies, so he only went to school for one year. Later his parents sent Chan to Master Yu's China Drama Academy on the Kowloon Island. He studied drama, martial arts, dance and music in this academy. Surprisingly Chang did very well in all respects at the institute. The whole idea of going through this institute was for the students to start performing in the Chinese Opera. However, Chang realized that Chinese opera was getting very difficult to earn money and becoming less popular.
Chang always dreamed big from childhood and made big plans for his career.
Chan, while in this institute, started giving performances for the institute and also as lead in Chinese operas. He showed talent in every field like on the stage, behind the stage and in direction. He was considered to be an all rounder in acting and performing arts scenario. He signed a ten year contract with the academy and did very well during those ten years. After leaving the Master’s institute, Chan was looking for acting options but became a stunt man eventually. Luckily for Chan, Bruce Lee started becoming very popular and there was a sudden craze for martial arts and stunt performances. Chan being very good at these things immediately found opportunity in movies.
