Reeves did not grow up with his father completely and actually it is rumored that Reeves' father left the family when he was three years old. Keanu Reeves has a sister and both of them were brought up single handedly by their mother. Keanu does not keep in touch with his father and has no relationship with him anymore.
Keanu Reeves went through a fairly difficult childhood seeing poverty and difficulty for money. He had to run errands at a small age and also had the need to make money early in life. He along with his family moved around the world quite a bit and his childhood was rather unstable. His mother supposedly married several times and he ended up living with several step fathers.
Reeves grew up several years in Toronto and went to four different high schools. His frequent traveling and unrest in the family caused a big gap in his studies. He lost inclination towards education and also did not feel he should complete graduation. His academic skills were poor but he was good at sports. After leaving the De la Salle College in Toronto, Reeves started attending a free school which would let him get a degree while pursuing a career in acting. He dropped out of school and ended up never getting a high school diploma. However, he does not miss it much today in his life as he has more recognition than a high school diploma would have brought to him.
