Famous Latin People


Here is a list of famous Latin people who have influenced the world in one way or the other with their activities. Of course, their influence may not have always been positive but they managed to gain fame and name nonetheless.

Famous Latin People:

María Eva Duarte de Perón (7 May 1919 - 26 July 1952) -- She was born in Argentina. She pursued a career in theater, radio and films. She met Col Juan Peron in 1944 and married him in 1945. Juan Peron was elected as president of Argentina in 1946. She was First Lady of Argentina till her death in 1952. She founded and ran the first female political party ‘Female Peronist Party’. She died due to cancer.

José Julián Martí Pérez (January 28, 1853 - May 19, 1895) -- He is a Cuban national hero and an important figure in Latin American literature. He was a poet, a journalist, revolutionary philosopher, and a political theorist. He was a symbol of Cuban Independence from Spain. He is known as ‘Apostle of Cuban Independence’. He dedicated his life for the intellectual independence of the Spanish Americans. He was the designer of the Cuban Revolutionary Party and its ideology. He died in military action on May 19, 1895.

Carlos Augusto Santana Alves (born July 20, 1947 in Jalisco, Mexico) -- He is a Mexican American rock musician and guitarist. He became famous along with his band Santana in the early 70s. The band created a successful blend of rock, salsa and jazz fusion. Rolling Stones magazine named Santana number 15 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of all times in 2003. His music album ‘Supernatural’ won 9 Grammy Awards in 1999.

Samuel Peralta Sosa (born November 12, 1968 in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic) -- He is a major league baseball player. He started his baseball career with Texas Rangers. Later he played for Chicago Cubs, and Baltimore. He completed 600 home runs in 2007 and has become the fifth player in professional baseball to achieve this feat. He is also the all time home run leader among foreign born Major League baseball players.
