Raven Symone Biography

Raven Symone was born in Atlanta, Georgia in December 1985. She started modeling as an infant and at the age of three, she auditioned for a film. Considered too young for the role, she was selected for an alternative one, and cast as Cosby's granddaughter Olivia in The Cosby Show. She played the role for three years till the show ended in 1992. For the next ten years she acted in various television serials and a couple of movies -- The Little Rascals and Dr. Doolittle 2.

In 2002, she auditioned for a part in a proposed Disney Channel series to be called Absolutely Psychic. While she was auditioning for a supporting role, Disney executives decided she was ideal for the lead character, Raven Baxter, a teenager with psychic abilities. The name was changed to That’s So Raven which released in January 2003. It has so far proved to be Disney Cannel’s longest-running, highest-rated series. The show gave birth to an incredible franchise which included episode DVD’s, dolls, video games and soundtracks. The Cheetah Girls, a sequel to The Cheetah Girls in which she also starred broke all records with 8 million viewers on the opening night.

Raven Symone has lent her voice in several animation movies; has branched out with several hot selling musical albums and continues her meteoric career on television and the big screen.
