Even though he was not getting any point for the polls, he strongly maintained his views. It is because of his support for war that America turned against him. He also said that he sympathizes with the American people because they are tired of the war and frustrated because of the mistakes caused in the war.
He feels the age of Gandhian Philosophy is gone and the modern day is that of terrorism. We are dealing with animals that have no reason and have blood on their mind. The only way to deal with them is through war and armed forces. He also urged Americans to have patience as the troops will turn out victorious.
McCain identifies terrorism with violent Islamic terrorism due to Al Qaeda. He also believes that a terrorist outfit like Al Qaeda cannot be brought under control without war and if they are allowed to continue they will become a serious threat to the security of the United States. McCain is all willing to use highest technologies for war so that military capabilities can be increased and the US armed forces can be empowered.
However, the view points of John McCain were never appreciated because Americans were literally fed up of the war and wanted serious reforms and something that would change the circumstances for them. John McCain was only talking about war and nothing else.
He also commented that the only way to beat recession was to get a second job and skip the vacations which did not go down very well with the Americans.
