Barack Obama Timeline


Barack Obama was a little known senator from Illinois before 2008. However, as the presidential race started heating up, all of a sudden here was one man who was being likened to JFK and Martin Luther King.

His oratory prowess was appreciated by all. His charisma and straight talk was ultimately responsible for his victory at the US presidential election. People of the United States hope that he can change the perception of their country and that he can help stabilize the American economy.

Barack Obama Timeline:

Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Ann Dunham and Barack Obama Sr.

In 1967, Obama moves to Indonesia with his mother and here he is familiarized with poverty, beggars and sick children dying from various illnesses.

In 1970, Barack has a new baby sister and after her birth, his mother felt the need to return to the United States for the better prospects for her children.

In 1971, Barack Obama is sent to Hawaii to live with his maternal grandparents in Honolulu. Although he was very sad to be separated from his mother, he was a good child to his grandparents.

In 1972, Ann Dunham, Obama’s mother, returns to the United States with his little sister.

In 1975, Barack became the captain of the football team and in order to be tough he gets into wrong habits such as smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol like beer, and doing cocaine.

In1979, He comes to LA to join the Occidental College and at the end of the sophomore year he transfers to Columbia University in New York.

In 1982, Obama hears about his father’s untimely death in a road accident.

In 1988, Obama joined Harvard Law School where he met Michelle Robinson who was a young lawyer at that time.

In 1992, Obama returns to Chicago after law school to reunite with his girlfriend Michelle Robinson. In the same year in October both get married.

In 1996, Obama runs for the Illinois State Senate and gets elected

In 1998, their first daughter Malia Ann is born.

In 2001, Barack and Michelle's second daughter Natasha (Sasha) is born.

In 2008, Obama is elected as the 44th President of the United States defeating Republican candidate John McCain.
