Barack Obamas Childhood
Barack Obama was born to an American Mother and a Kenyan father on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was brought up in conservative and religious set up. His complete name is Barack Hussein Obama and that has often led people to question his religious beliefs and he has been suspected of being a Muslim. |
However, Obama states that he is strictly a Christian and has no Muslim influence. The only Muslim influence is the connection of his grandfather from Kenya. He claims that he has never practiced Islam. He also grew up in Indonesia for a few years in his life because after Obama’s father left to Kenya, his mother remarried an Indonesian. His second father Lolo Seotoro was also a Muslim.
After returning from Indonesia, Obama spent most of his childhood in Hawaii with his maternal grandparents. He was a brilliant child and got naturally accepted into the best schools from childhood. He had many experiences in his childhood in Hawaii which helped him form many of his present ideas. Barack was only one of the three black students who got accepted into a prestigious prep school in Hawaii in grade 5. He also had to go through events of racial discrimination through out his schooling years.
However, throughout his childhood memories, Barack maintains that he was very close to his mother than anyone else. He did keep in touch with his father who wrote to him regularly and even met him a couple of times while he was traveling. Obama came from a common American family and deeply understood the pains of a normal American household.
