The United States by default grants citizenship to all those who are born in the country. There is no doubt or second thoughts that Barack Obama is a United States national or else he would not have been eligible for becoming the president of the United States as per rules.
Barack Obama’s father was of Kenyan origin and he came to the United States to study on a scholarship program. He did not hold an American passport and he had visa permits to study only in the United States. However, because his father married his mother who was an American by birth, he could stay longer by visa extension. His father also studied in Harvard when Obama was born. But, he returned to Kenya later.
Obama had a very diverse childhood right from birth. He was born in Honolulu on August 4, 1961, he later moved to Indonesia in his early childhood. Yet wherever he lived in the world he held an American passport and citizenship throughout. He could also attend international school in Indonesia because of his American nationality status.
