The Lisbon Treaty was signed on 13 December 2007 which would change the way the European Union works and functions. Some of the changes being thought about through this treaty are that instead of having a president that rotates every 6 months, to have a President who will stay on for 2 years and also for the first time it would also give national parliaments an opportunity to voice their opinions in making European laws.
