She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the first person to be awarded with two Nobel prizes during her lifetime. She held multiple degrees in math, physics and chemistry was the first woman instructor in Sorbonne.
She was an inspiration to many other scientists and gained numerous recognitions and honours during her lifetime. Her husband Pierre Curie, her daughter Joliot-Curie and her son-in-law Frédéric Joliot-Curie are also Nobel Laureates.
As a pioneer of radioactivity, she defined the theory of radioactivity and the various techniques of isolation of the isotopes which are radioactive.
