Public Response To Mark Twain Writings

Mark Twain, one of the popular American journalist and writer known for his humorous writing skills, won accolades with his exemplary work filled with unmatched wit and intellect.

His youthful characters in his most famous books the ‘Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’ and ‘Adventures Of Tom Sawyer’, earned him a lot of fans and admirers worldwide.

Though Mark Twain had a struggling start because of his tragic and difficult childhood, his writings slowly got accepted by the masses. He started his passion for writing by contributing articles and sketches to “Hannibal Journal”, which was owned by his brother.

Since his writing style was individualistic, some of his books and articles unpublished by those critics who started vehemently opposing them. However, this did not deter Mark and he managed to survive the onslaught to contribute many books to American literature. His crisp word usage won him lot of praise. His writings became famous both for the good and bad reasons.

For example, one of his most popular works named “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” was restricted in some of the high schools in America. His other youthful work ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’ became a huge hit especially among the youth and attracted great audience worldwide.

Twain’s impressive satiric works was appreciated by both his critics and peers. But some of his publications like “The Prince And the Pauper” were not very well accepted, probably because of his lack of experience in understanding the unique social aspects of the English society.

During his lifetime, he became a close friend to many elites, which included artists, industrialists, presidents, and members of the European royalty. The noted American author, William Faulkner addressed Twain as "the father of American literature”.
